Hello and welcome to Algebra Based General Physics One. My name is Gerald Woods. I'm the lab director and instructor of general physics here at USF. And I've been so for the past 10 years. 

My background is in experimental physics. I graduated from the University of Tennessee, and then I went on to the Naval Research Lab where I spent a lot of time working for the Navy in their experimental work. 

General Physics One and General Physics Two Algebra Based is a very important course for our students, especially in biology and medicine. This course will help you in the critical thinking skills that you will need in your professional careers. So it's important to not just view the modules as you would a novel, but to think about what you're seeing, to write down and explore other resources to help you understand fully each topic in the course. 

Every module has a basic format. And it will begin by a list of suggested problems out of Randall Knight Third Edition. And then it will pick up with a reading assignment out of the same book. And then it will have a set of videos in which you view the material. And then after one, maybe two, of the videos you will be prompted to take a quiz. 

After the videos and all the quizzes are completed you will see that there is a solution set that will be posted for you to view. It's going to be either in PDF format, or it would actually be a video of me working the problems for you. And then, finally, there may be in a particular module an online forum discussion in which you the student will share with your classmates the way in which the module material relates to you and what you would like to do for your professional career.
